SCAM SLAVE: From Hell to Home Wins Grand Prize and Best Documentary Short at Anthem Film Festival

We’re thrilled to share that SCAM SLAVE: From Hell to Home has been awarded both the Grand Prize and Best Documentary Short at the 2026 Anthem Film Festival in Las Vegas.

Directed by Timothy Blackwood, the documentary follows Gideon Mwesezi, a young Ugandan man who travels to Thailand after being promised a job, only to be trafficked into a scam compound in Myanmar. His story exposes the hidden human cost behind the global scam industry and the thousands of people who remain trapped in modern-day slavery.

This recognition is a powerful acknowledgement of Gideon’s story and of the entire team who worked to bring it to the screen. We’re incredibly proud to see SCAM SLAVE: From Hell to Home receive these two honours and help bring greater attention to an issue that remains largely hidden from view.

Grand Prize. Best Documentary Short. Anthem Film Festival 2026.
